Last year the Global Kidney Academy (GKA) and Professor Meguid El Nahas launched the first Nephrology Online Courses (NOCs). The first course was the CKD NOC 2013 which is currently running successfully and is oversubscribed.
The next NOCs will be:
the second CKD NOC to be held from March 2014
the launch of the first Transplantation NOC in October 2014
The registration fees range from £250 to £500 with special fees for previous NOC graduates.

What are the NOCS?
The NOCs are completely online educational resources allowing Nephrologists to enrol on a course whilst working in their own hospital and environment. Each NOC consists of lectures, case discussions, MCQs and self-assessments. The NOCs encourage work-based reflective learning and feature a programme of tutoring and mentoring of the student.
The GKA issues a CKD NOC certificate to those successfully completing the course.
 
What is the CKD NOC?
The course consists of 4 modules:
CKD Classification and Epidemiology
CKD Natural History and Mechanisms of Progression
CKD Investigations and Management
CKD Complications
The CKD NOC Faculty consists of international experts in the field of CKD led by Professors Meguid El Nahas and Arif Khwaja from the Sheffield Kidney Institute.
 
What is the Transplantation NOC?
The course will consist of 4 modules:
Transplantation Immunobiology
Clinical Transplantation
Transplantation Complications: medical and surgical
Transplantation Histopathology
The Transplantation NOC faculty includes:
Dr Richard Baker (UK), Dr Will Mckane (UK), Dr Arif Khwaja (UK), Mr. Ahmed Halawa (UK), Dr. Aimun Ahmed (UK), Dr. Bisher Kawar (UK), Prof. Meguid El Nahas (UK).
The international Faculty will include Prof R. Colvin (USA), Prof D Glotz (France) and Prof R Barsoum (Egypt).
